Hey there – I am Mary, an event stylist in Perth, Western Australia and I love making spaces look incredible.
When I meet new people they often ask that wonderful small talk question “What do you do?” Honestly, I haven’t got the perfect response yet! I usually go with “I am an Event Stylist.” And then very quickly try to explain what that is. So my answer ends up being this awkward, run on speech about how much I love making events really special for people and working with flowers.
Here is what I wish I was able to convey in one, succinct response to what I do:
I make events beautiful.
I plan, coordinate and create.
I create peace of mind.
I think outside of the box.
When you are planning an event that you want to be extra special, you don’t want to do anything by halves. The average couple spends around 200 hours planning their wedding and it is my job and passion to make sure that this time is stress-free, productive and most of all fun! I do everything from creating invitation suites to completely setting up and styling your event on the day.
As an event stylist in Perth I can do everything, incuding help you find the perfect venue, let you know who the best of the best suppliers in Perth are (caterers, photographers, cake makers etc.) and even help you find the perfect outfit to wear. My main job is planning and designing the look of your event. From invitations through to room layout and flowers – I make sure it is all cohesive and amazing.
I am a university-trained designer (my degree is in architecture) so whipping up invitations or menus that are a perfect match with the floral arrangements and getting a brilliant floor plan drawn up are things I love doing. My style is modern and every wedding I do is different because every couple is different… plus, no one wants to plan a killer party only to have it exactly the same as someone else's!
Finally, there are the things that I do which are unexpected. Ironing tablecloths at venues to make sure that they don’t have massive creases down the middle, being the emergency contact on the day to sort out those small things that may pop up so you don’t have to know about them and even making sure that you are fed on your wedding day (you would be surprised how many couples forget they need to eat a meal before dinner!)
If you are planning an event that you want to be extra special – let’s have a chat. Come and visit me this weekend (6th of May) at the Perth Wedding Upmarket at The University of Western Australia to say hi or shoot an email through to firstname.lastname@example.org
